Nurse news: Attention 5th grade parents

/Nurse news: Attention 5th grade parents

Medical chart iconIt’s already that time to start thinking ahead to middle school! All 11 year old, 6th grade students are required, by state law, to have a Tdap vaccine before they can start middle school.

If your 5th grader is already 11 years old, it may be a good idea to call your child’s medical provider to schedule an appointment. If they are still 10, it’s a good idea to make the call to schedule an appointment for after their 11th birth-day. (Hint: Don’t wait until right before school starts! August is very busy for the medical providers as every incoming kindergartner and 6th grader will need immunizations – if you wait, you might not get an appointment!)

When they get the shot, please bring in the proof of immunizations to the office and we will update our records. If you have questions or concerns, I can be reached at tracy.thun@vansd.org or call the school’s office.
